Guidance for Park Use - COVID 19 Update

As the prevalence of coronavirus (COVID-19) has increased in SE Wisconsin and Washington County, we are using the best information we have to take proactive steps to protect the health of our community.

We know that outdoor spaces are critical to the mental and physical health of our community, now more than ever. Here are some simple rules to follow when visiting our parks (subject to change):

  • The use of playgrounds is strongly discouraged. While the village is working diligently to help unsure public safety, it’s not feasible to clean every nook and cranny on our structures.
  • Please practice social distancing and avoid close contact with others. The CDC recommends a minimum of 6 feet distance to help reduce the risk of spread between individuals.
  • Do not congregate in groups of 10 or more people.
  • We need your help to keep our parks safe for you and others. Please stay home if you are sick and practice good hygiene. Wash your hands after touching surfaces. Avoid touching your face. Sneeze or cough into a tissue or the inside of your elbow. Park visitors may want to bring hand sanitizer with them as they go out to our parks, just to be safe. Place trash in garbage receptacles.
  • We encourage residents to enjoy passive recreation activities in our parks and in the community: visit your local park, take a walk with your family, ride your bike or walk your dog on leash, and get outside. Parks remain a vital resource for our community during these challenging times.
  • If you see something that needs attention, please call the Germantown Parks and Recreation Department at (262)250-4710 or email: Our current office hours are Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. If after hours, please leave a message on our department voicemail.
